Stockholm Archipelago

This walking tour includes three walks in the outer and inner archipelago – a wonderful way of experiencing Sweden’s beautiful seaside. We walk through magnificent natural landscapes, stay at the historic Häringe Slott and at one of the archipelago’s most beautifully situated hotels, Nynäs Havsbad Hotel & Spa. Each night we enjoy carefully prepared  gourmet dinners. Our walks take us across the Häringe peninsula and through the beautiful islands of Ålö and Utö and the peninsula of Gålö. We walk at a comfortable pace and will stop now and then just to enjoy tranquility and the panoramic views towards open sea.

Day 1
Häringe peninsula – 6 km easy walking

The tour begins in the centre of Stockholm, where our guides and bus will meet you. We drive south, about 45 minutes towards the nature reserve on the Häringe peninsula and Häringe Slott, a baroque castle dating back to 1657. After checking into the hotel, we will head off on our first walk though forested landscape with views towards the nearby islands. Birdlife in the reserve is rich and eagles are a common sight. We return to the Häringe Slott for some free time and relaxation before a gourmet three-course dinner is served in one of the majestic dining rooms

Day 2
Ålö and Utö islands in the outer archipelago – 7 km easy walking

After breakfast and a short bus ride, we take the ferry out to Ålö island. Today’s walk goes through a breathtaking landscape, along country roads and arable fields and pastures.  We eat our picnic lunch on the cliffs and have the opportunity for a swim. In the late afternoon, the ferry takes us back to the mainland, and to Nynäs Havsbad Hotel & Spa, one of the most beautifully situated hotels in the southern archipelago. After a well-earned rest in comfortable hotel rooms, a 3-course dinner is served in the restaurant, with stunning views of the sea.

Day 3
The Gålö nature reserve – 5 km medium walking

After a generous breakfast buffet, the bus will take us to one of Sweden’s most beautiful nature reserves, Gålö, just 30 minutes from the hotel. We walk a stunningly beautiful stretch along the peninsula’s coastline with views towards open sea. We pass view points and walk along pebble beaches – the birdlife is abundant and in June, the orchids are in bloom. At the end of the walk, the bus will take us back to central Stockholm where the tour Sunday afternoon.
